General Information
Additive E460(ii) (powdered cellulose) is a simpler form of cellulose (additive E460) obtained by mechanically grinding wood cellulose. The raw material is treated with caustic soda and acids, then dried and milled into a fine powder.
Unlike E460(i), powdered cellulose has a less defined particle size and does not exhibit a crystalline structure. However, its applications remain diverse: it is used as a filler in confectionery products, as a stabilizer in creams, yoghurts, and other food items.
